The Family was rumored to be close-knit group of high-profile community members including a doctor, a lawyer, and a judge. Over a five-year period, the group allegedly raped, kidnapped, tortured, and murdered five boys.
Von Einem was the only member of The Family to face justice. He is serving a life sentence for the 1983 murder of Richard Kelvin. During his trial, Von Einem maintained his innocence and refused to name anyone else involved. The murders of Alan Barnes, Neil Muir, Peter Stogneff, and Mark Langley remain unsolved.
